WA dairy industry collaborates at Perth Royal Show 2017

The state’s leading dairy processors will come together under the “WA Dairy Pavilion” banner at the upcoming Perth Royal Show to showcase the exceptional dairy products being produced in WA and existing innovations within the industry.

In 2017, the WA Dairy Pavilion will offer visitors the opportunity to see, taste, try and buy some of the very latest award winners from the Perth Royal Show Dairy Awards, which were announced this week.

WAFarmers Dairy Section President Michael Partridge said the industry collaboration was an attempt to raise the awareness of the benefits of increased dairy consumption.

“In WA, we produce some of the finest milk in the world, with our climate and geography lending itself to quality production,” he said.

“The WA Dairy Pavilion is the only truly collaborative dairy showcase in WA to attract everyone from your local farmer to your processor, cheese maker, chocolatier, barista and ice cream maker – it really is a celebration all those involved in producing WA’s outstanding dairy and value-added products.

“It is only through partnerships such as that of the WA Dairy Pavilion that we are going to achieve a viable, profitable and sustainable future for the WA dairy industry, so not only will the Pavilion offer a delicious and educational day out for the entire family, it will also increase awareness of dairy farming in Western Australia.”

Apart from the delicious dairy products available, the WA Dairy Pavilion will this year highlight the full process from grass to glass, offering visitors the opportunity to milk the cows and to turn this milk from the source into butter and cheese. Additionally, there will be latte art workshops, pikelet making, blind ice cream tastings, and an opportunity for young visitors to bottle feed the calves.

WAFarmers staff and representatives will also be at the coffee bar by the WA Dairy Pavilion every day – come and enjoy a coffee using WAFarmersFirst Milk and grab a pikelet using the milk and WAFarmersFirst Eggs.

The WA Dairy Pavilion at the Perth Royal Show opens Saturday 23 September and runs until Saturday 30 September. Opening hours are 9.00am to 7.00pm daily. For further details and to book, visit www.perthroyalshow.com.au.
